Celio Appoints Masahiro Asai as Country Manager to Oversee Celio’s Japanese Operations

SALT LAKE CITY – May 21, 2009 – In order to support its growth and acceptance of the REDFLY Mobile Companion, Celio Corp today announced it has opened an office in Yokahama, Japan, appointing Masahiro Asai as country manager for Celio Corp Japan. Asai will oversee all country operations including sales, marketing, and customer and technical support.

The opening of the office in Japan is an integral part of Celio Corp’s worldwide expansion, and increases its ability to make the REDFLY Mobile Companion available to more customers in Japan through Celio Corp Japan’s new partnerships with Japanese resellers IBS Japan Co., Ltd and Movida Solutions Inc.

“Since the launch of the REDFLY Mobile Companion, we have seen a large acceptance of the product in the Japanese market, so expanding our presence to that geography was a logical and strategic move,” said Kirt Bailey, president and CEO of Celio Corp. “With the opening of this office, REDFLY customers will now be able to buy direct from Japan and get the product quicker, while also having increased customer service and technical support.”

Under the direction of Celio Corp headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, Asai will manage all operations in Japan and be responsible for the in-country marketing, building channel and reseller programs, and technical and customer support. Asai comes to Celio Corp with more than 20 years in the computer security industry, including posts at LANDesk Software K.K., Intel K.K., and PGP K.K.

Celio Corp Japan plans to address the unique Japanese mobile phone market by promoting the smartphone plus REDFLY Mobile Companion combination as an innovative Thin Client solution.

Continued Bailey, “As the smartphone market continues to grow in Japan, we’re confident the REDFLY Mobile Companion’s acceptance will mirror that growth as it enables its customers to use their smartphone like a laptop.”

Redfly Companion gives your smart phone a bigger screen

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Smart phones are a classic example of good things coming in small packages. But sometimes I get tired of squinting at the tiny screen and poking at it with a stylus. I can use it to check my e-mail and surf the Web, but I can’t write my epic masterpiece novel on it — not with that little keyboard and screen.

So Celio Corp.’s Redfly Mobile Companion intrigued me. The two-pound device displays whatever is on your smart phone on a notebook-sized eight-inch screen with a full QWERTY keyboard. But although it sure looks and feels like one, the Redfly isn’t a laptop PC.

It has no operating system, processor or memory. It’s what we used to call a dumb terminal — just a monitor and keyboard and no real computing smarts. You can’t save any data on it, so if it’s lost or falls into enemy hands, there’s no harm done.

Redfly gadget aids Memphis police with tiny smartphones

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Since 2005, Memphis police officers have used smartphones to write and read reports, see suspect photos and information, and take pictures of evidence, among other tasks.

But like just about everything else, the better the technology got, the smaller the devices became.

Now they\’re about half the size of the originals, which led patrol officers to squint, fumble and even worse, make mistakes, police officials said.

Officers complained about the Lilliputian keyboards, said Maj. Jim Harvey, MPD technology manager, and some even brought in doctors\’ notes about the headaches they got from straining to see the devices.

Now the department has found a perfect match for the phones, an 8-inch laptop look-alike called the Redfly Mobile Companion.
