The REDFLY Media Port enables 2 new features. Both features require the use of the optional REDFLY Media Cable to function.
Note: Currently, only the REDFLY Model C8N supports video playback. To determine which REDFLY model you have, look at the label on the bottom of your REDFLY device.
Composite Analog NTSC/PAL Video Input with Universal Cable
Virtually any composite NTSC or PAL analog video signal is accepted by REDFLY Media Port when used with the optional REDFLY Media Cable (universal) pictured below. The REDFLY Media Cable features a standard female RCA connector that will accept input from a variety of sources including devices such as iPods ™, Zunes®, digital cameras, DVD players, etc. In most cases, you’ll need the optional video/TV out cables from your media player’s manufacturer.

Video Input From iPod
While you can use the REDFLY Media Cable (universal) pictured above to display video on REDFLY from an iPod (together with Apple’s Composite AV Cable), the REDFLY Media Cable (for use with iPod) pictured below provides a direct and streamlined method requiring only one simple cable. Plug one end directly into your video capable iPod and the other end directly into the REDFLY Media Port on your REDFLY C8N.

Other REDFLY Media Port Features
- Charges media player (if USB charge compatible) while playing
- Watch videos in full-screen mode
- Watch videos in a smaller window while working on REDFLY (Does not require a smartphone to play video)
- Play video and work with your smartphone at the same time (You can minimize the video window so you can see your smartphone’s interface)
Items Required to Watch Video on REDFLY

Connecting Your Device to the REDFLY C8N
A smartphone is not needed to connect your video source to the REDFLY C8N. However, it is possible to be connected to both a smartphone (as you normally would) and be connected to a video source at the same time.
To display video on your REDFLY:

1. Connect the yellow Video connector on your player’s cable to the yellow Video connector on the REDLY Media Cable.
2. Connect the Media Adapter Cable to the REDFLY’s Media Port.
3. Power on the REDFLY and your player.
4. On most players, select the Video or TV Out option. For example, on the Apple iPod, choose “Settings” from the Media menu, then select TV Out and then ON. Check your manual for details.
5. Start your video. The video window automatically appears on the REDFLY. Use your player’s earphones or speakers for listening to the audio track.
You can have both the video and your smartphone screen on at the same time on your REDFLY. Simply connect your phone and REDFLY as usual and continue working with your applications. The video window will always be on top, but you can resize or hide it using the icons at the upper-right of the window.
Click on the “TV” icon in the REDFLY system tray to restore the video window to the screen after it is hidden.
Additional USB Port
With the REDFLY Media Cable, the REDFLY Media Port can also function as a third powered USB port. The third port has the same functionality as REDFLY’s standard 2 USB ports allowing the use of USB keyboards, mice or Flash Drives. The REDFLY Media Cable features a standard full-size USB connector.
REDFLY Video Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Does the REDFLY now support video playback from YouTube and other media formats directly through the standard smartphone interface?
A: No. REDFLY still does not support direct video playback through the Windows Mobile operating system or media software players such as YouTube, Windows Media Player, Kinoma etc.

A: REDFLY does not have internal speakers. You may listen to the audio portion through headphones or speakers connected to your media player.
Q: Why do I need 2 cables?
A: In order to maintain the most compatibility, Celio Corp has opted to produce the REDFLY Media Cable as a universal adaptor allowing video from a variety of device’s video/TV out cables to interface with the REDFLY Media Port. In the future, Celio Corp may offer device-specific cables for some media player enabling video playback with only one cable.
Q: Do I need a smartphone to watch video on REDFLY?
A: No. The REDLFY can act as a video monitor for any NTSC/PAL composite analog video input.
